Albert Looms handle thousands of end of life cars each year at their licensed and controlled site and are members of MVDA. End of life cars are recycled as soon as they arrive. The first operation is to de pollute the vehicles of all fluids including oil and water. They are then stripped of their batteries, engines and gearboxes. What remains is then stored in the yard for approximately 3 weeks until it is squashed and sent to a Frag Operator. The engines and gearboxes are sent to another company for recycling. Tyres which are not fit for second usage are disposed of in various ways including burning as an alternative fuel.
